Just to confirm the motherboard i am using supports 5.1 and has alc1220 codec with realtek audio driver version 6. I have opened realtek software, sounds on taskbar and i only see stereo as an option. My audio control panel on PC is set to stereo like you said but i am unable to find options to change it 5.1.

If i play the same movie in any other media player which happens to use the realtek capabilities i get pcm displayed on my receiver and only stereo.
